For more than 30 years, Queensland Domestic Violence Services Network (QDVSN) has worked collectively to challenge violence, center survivor safety and drive systemic change. That herstory now carries us forward into a new chapter.
In October 2025, the Queensland Government appointed QDVSN to establish and lead Queensland’s dedicated domestic and family violence peak body. By early January 2026, the entity was formally incorporated and since that time, we have been building the governance foundations required to lead with independence and integrity.
This transition from network to formal peak body is not a departure from what has always mattered. It is its evolution. It reflects the sector’s collective readiness to step into a role of greater clarity and influence. To ensure that decisions shaping policy, funding and reform are made with the sector, not about it.
We are clear about what the Peak is here to do: unite Queensland’s specialist domestic and family violence services into a credible, independent collective voice; translate frontline expertise and lived experience into practical, evidence-led system reform; and hold systems accountable for delivering real safety at home.
We do not lead alone. This work is grounded in solidarity, built through trust, and accountable to the sector and the communities we serve. Transparency, consultation and disciplined advocacy are not aspirations; they are commitments.
At the center of everything we do are victims, survivors and communities across Queensland who deserve a specialist sector that is connected, supported and advocating together. Safety is a system’s responsibility. We are here to ensure that expertise shapes the systems that deliver it.
